The Key To Saving Your Marriage

By Areelitaha Joahlanski

Once in awhile you find yourself in a tough spot whether because of work or the stress of a bad economy or financial situation. What ends up suffering is your marriage. Feeling like you are on a desert island, you wonder how you can survive and how you go about saving your marriage. Here are a few tips on doing just that.

It can be devastating to your faith in all things to find yourself in a marriage that seems to be headed for divorce. You loved this person at one time and if you look deep inside yourself, you will find you still do. Take hold of the bumpy ride ahead and let your spouse know that you do still love him or her and you want to do whatever it takes to save your marriage.

Do not grumble that your partner has changed or that your partner has hobbies and activities you are not into. They are the same person they were when you married and you need to let them know you still care about the things that mean a lot to them. Distancing yourself will make it seem like you don't find what they care about important.

Just because you are married does not mean you stop being individuals. Take your partner out to dinner. Buy her flowers. Cook his favorite meal. Let your spouse know you are thinking about him or her during the day. Send a text saying "I love you" or call and say you were thinking of him or her. When you are home, sit together and ask about each other's day. Do not go off in different directions and barely communicate.

Do not cheat. You will not find your way back to a good marriage by seeking what you are missing in others. Infidelity involves lying and using people and doing so hurts many innocent people, your spouse, the affair and any children that may be involved or who could be conceived. Work on what you have at home and you will have a stronger union instead of finding someone else to take part in what is cruel to all involved.

Fixing marital problems takes time and work. Whether you decide to take a second honeymoon or go into counseling, do so with the understanding that you are working to save the most important relationship in your life. Let your spouse know he or she is important to you and that saving your marriage is of the highest priority to you. Showing how much you care will help your spouse know he or she isn't in this alone and you can work to resolve issues and become a stronger team.
