Background Checks - Running One On Those You Date

By Belinsa A. Keefeor

Running a complete background check on everyone you may get romantically involved with or date is always a good idea. With people meeting online and all the latest technology, it is ripe for people who lie about who they really are. Do yourself a favor and perform a background check on everyone you date.

When you are talking to someone online or meeting them for the first time, ask their age. You can usually get someone's age for free online before you run a full pledged background check. If you know the city that they reside in, you can easily get their age. If they are not telling the truth about that then you really need to beware.

One good indicator of how stable someone is, is to check on their residence history. It is a very good indicator of how stable they have been in their lives. There are definitely exceptions to this rule, such as if the person moves around a lot for a job. You would not want to hold this against them. It could mean the exact opposite, that they are very ambitious and going somewhere. Use common sense when analyzing anything.

You always want to do a criminal background check on the people you date. You may actually want to start with this one first. Wouldn't it be awful if you started dating someone who beat up on their spouse or had a violent history. This can all be avoided with a simple background check. You do not want to get involved in someone who has a violent temper. Noone needs that kind of stress and bother.

Another worry that many people have is whether or not the person they are dating is married or not. A simple background search will reveal whether this is true. Noone wants to date someone that is already involved, do not be a victim of someone who is cheating on their spouse. It is not a good situation to be in. Dating married people will only cause you problems in the long run.
